If there is one trade in the building industry that brings together design and the manufacture of diverse and unique works, it has to be that of metalworkers.

Metalwork constructions frequently combine different materials (steel, stainless steel, glass, wood, composite materials, etc.) integrated in both simple and complex, straight and curved volumes and shapes. The complexity of this activity naturally led CESI2D to work on a unique AutoCAD CAD solution that meets the full range of metalworkers’ requirements.

Design and creation of work orders in the fields of metal frames, layout plans, wrought iron work and joinery (with borders not easily identifiable for metalworkers) are thus handled by Cesiom.

Nowadays, metalworkers have to find solutions adapted to their trade to support the transfer of tasks from the workshop to preparation. Indeed, drawings and preparation for manufacture are essential to meet the requirements arising both from a lack of staff and from the requests for drawings from the various participants of a project.

When searching for solutions, metalworkers must find the right balance between tools that are sufficiently open to meet the diversification requirements of metal working and yet are highly technical, which is the second specificity of this activity. Moreover, the design and fitting of finely worked structures, the very essence of the business, reinforces the idea that only a 2D computer-aided design application is flexible enough to meet the various criteria of the final choice. AutoCAD – the “industry standard” with 80% of the CAD market – certainly offers the best guarantees for a long-term investment. Even though AutoCAD is more and more popular with metalworkers, it remains a “generalist” computerized drawing board.

[title]Cesiom enables:[/title]
- The design of worked straight staircases, with the positioning of stringboards and landings according to its final situation (under a floor opening, complying with Blodel’s formula, etc.) and angled staircases with automatically developed stringboards and steps. - Helicoidal staircases with automatically developed stringboards and central shafts (step tracing, etc.). - Handrails with rails and bars and the option of automatically distributing the posts, rails and bars. The fastening elements and various sections can be “standard” elements from the program libraries. - Multi-flight straight or angled staircases with dynamic designs. - 3D viewing of staircases. - Extraction of interior or exterior stringboards, together with the central boxed stringboard. - Developed steps, stringboards, sheet metal, cold profiles and cassettes. - Steel doors and profiled framed doors. - Straight, curved and dome-shaped gateways. - A library of various typologies for each procedure. - All these procedures offer various libraries that can be fully configured and developed. - The design is produced from the environment measurements (concrete and stairwell dimensions, with best practice controls, clearance, obstacles, 2H+G, etc.) enabling the metalworker to design with a tool that integrates the design process whilst relying on the safeguards provided by industry standards.

[title]Cesiom acts as a boost to AutoCAD in order to:[/title]
- Provide a complement for drawings via a series of additional Autocad commands. - Automatically extract the work order (parts list and tracing) avoiding the need to re-enter data. - Modify a unit via a simple query.

All models include as standard:
- a highly-developed system of comparing parts for automatic locating. - a number of editable equipment lists on Autocad or Excel. - the output of manufacturing sketches of parts that are fully automatic and configurable. On the drawing or on individual files. - creation of files for controlling the digital control machine tools (steel or aluminum).
[title]Fully integrated into AutoCAD, Cesiom is the gateway enabling:[/title] - The creative spirit of designers to be respected by combining the expertise of each with an open drawing tool and automated manufacture. - Fast design times, which must conciliate the uniqueness of each part related to the field of an activity relying on the engineered units. - The design office to be dedicated to design and drawing, doing away with non-creative tasks that are sometimes the source of errors, work orders, the manual counting of parts, bolts and fasteners. - The creation and dimensioning of sketches of parts to be manufactured. - Safety, as the work order is fully automated from drawings, thus avoiding risks from human error.
